Linton, United Kingdom ECM Selection Full time
Bespoke hardware development for scientific instruments

Are you a hands-on physicist or engineer able to quickly understand new hardware, identify problems, and develop solutions? Do you enjoy international travel, visiting new cities, and meeting new people? If so, this is the job for you.

This well-established Cambridge based company produces scientific instruments used across many industries including medical, climate science, and automotive.

While they produce standard machines, they also produce custom systems tailored for a client's needs and it is in this group you would be working.

This custom engineering ranges from integrating existing hardware into a client's systems to substantial hardware and software redesign.

In all cases you will be supported by a talented team of scientists and engineers to ensure the best possible product is developed and deployed.

Working closely with clients and taking an active part in industry conferences is a crucial aspect of this role, and therefore you need to be comfortable with traveling internationally for about a week every couple of months.

Further, you need to be a confident communicator to both high level managers and hands-on technical personnel, able to discuss technical subjects and pick up new ideas quickly.

This is a great way to start your career in engineering or further develop your skills if you are at a junior level.

The friendly and open team will be there to support and guide when needed with plenty of inhouse knowledge, skills, and resources.

Work-life balance is also important to the team, so they work a 35-hour week and provide compensation for out-of-hours travel.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Physics or Engineering
  • Full unrestricted rights to work in the UK
