We are delighted to be offering an exciting opportunity for Part-time Seasonal Field Ecologists to join the consultancy team at Maydencroft Limited.

We are a close-knit group of ecological, arboricultural, landscape, nature recovery and forestry consultants working as an integral part of a larger organisation which includes arborists, foresters, estate managers, grounds and landscape operatives and farmers.


We are looking to appoint capable and enthusiastic professionals who can work with our ecology team to deliver surveys and reporting services to our existing high-profile clients within the commercial, public, private, utility and charity sectors.

The position has the option to be based from any one of our offices in Hitchin (Hertfordshire), Letchworth (Hertfordshire), and Dorney (Berkshire), with a great deal of remote working.

Fixed term of 6 months starting in April 2023 to October 2023, with the potential to extend.

Responsibilities:

Assisting on a range of protected species surveys including:
Bat emergence and re-entry surveys
Bat transect surveys
Reptile surveys
Great crested newt surveys
Bird nest surveys
Sound and video data analysis of data gathered during surveys
Ecological Clerk of Works
Assisting with setting up reports - retrieving and analysing data searches

Experience

Essential

Thorough understanding of UK wildlife legislation
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
Excellent communication skills and English language skills
Comfortable with lone working and able to effectively manage working time
Full, clean driving licence.

Desirable

Use of specialist software such as QGIS, AutoCAD, and Cartographer
Qualifying member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or the Royal Society of Biology (RSB)
Previous experience of protected species surveys
Previous experience setting up ecological reports and undertaking desk studies
Previous experience with undertaking Phase 1 Habitat Surveys / UK Habs Surveys;
Use of the Defra BNG Metric.

Part-time hours: 30 per week

Salary:
From £22,000.00 per year
