Waiter - Position Purpose**As Waiter you represent the face of your Restaurant and are responsible for providing an amazing dining experience for our customers that is unrivalled by our competitors. It is your role to support the Restaurant Managers in running the restaurant effectively, supervising a group of servers and assisting in their ongoing training and development. You are responsible for providing the highest levels of customer service, leading by example, demonstrating exceptional knowledge of the menu and ensuring that the service you provide results in increased sales and repeat business.

Principal Accountabilities

Sales & Customer Service

  • Greet customers with a warm and friendly reception, remain attentive throughout their visit, and ensure that the waiting staff provide customers with a prompt and efficient service.
  • Maintain an immaculate appearance by adhering to the Company's Dress Code Policy and hygiene standards; as a Head Waiter, you are expected to lead by example. Ensure that all staff working within your restaurant also adhere to these standards.
  • Have knowledge of the restaurant menu and any specials in order that you can advise customers and waiting staff about each of the dishes offered.
  • Identify opportunities for improving customer service, team training & development and maximising sales revenue.
  • In conjunction with the Restaurant Managers, ensure that you monitor the service provided against business standards and customer feedback.
  • Handle multiple customers effectively.
  • Liaise with the kitchen in the event of any problems with food quality to resolve to the diner's satisfaction.

Operations

  • Support the Restaurant Managers in his/ her responsibilities and in achieving objectives.
  • Ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the Restaurant by ensuring the waiting team are following cleaning routines, carrying out spot checks and through ongoing diligence during the shift.
  • Ensure the restaurant runs smoothly and that Petersham Nurseries' high standards of quality and service are maintained at all times.
  • Report any complaint or problem immediately and discreetly to the Restaurant Managers.
  • Record all wastage daily and ensure waiting staff are recording wastage correctly.
  • Ensure adequate cleaning procedures are in place and followed by all members of staff
  • Assist Restaurant managers to monitor that all company property is well looked after and maintained

  • Totally professional eye for detail in every aspect of a restaurant.
  • Bring a positive attitude to teamwork, motivating and helping guide the team to exceed customer expectations.
  • Contributing to the smooth running of the restaurant, sharing duties and demonstrating flexibility with regard to hours and days of work.
  • Aim to achieve customer feedback commendations.
  • Keep up to date of ongoing issues and developments within the Company by reading the Petersham Nurseries Newsletters and other Company information.
  • Maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new members of staff and assisting in their training and development.
  • Fully understand the restaurants ethos.
