SF Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Temporary Purchasing Administrator to join one of our clients within the Engineering industry.

This is a temporary opportunity, to start immediately. The position is based in Sheffield, working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours.


The role will support with a variety of administration tasks in support of the Purchasing Manager and department as a whole.

Although based within the purchasing team, it is not essential that you have previously covered purchasing administration, however it is important that you have an administration background, the ability to pick up new systems and that you are confident communicating both internally and externally.


Typical duties will include:

  • Raise purchase orders for goods liaising with suppliers and colleagues for checking quantities and price and to input orders on to the bespoke company system.
  • Assist in covering the purchase order telephone line take inbound calls from engineers wishing to purchase goods from suppliers.
  • Obtain quotations from approved suppliers.
  • Assisting in the management of hired plant & machinery.
  • Escalate/communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
  • Ordering stationery and refreshment supplies.
  • Communicating with suppliers regarding outstanding quotations or orders
