Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cardiac Theatres to recruit a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner to join our fantastic theatre team. You will be a highly motivated, innovative, and progressive individual committed to the development of yourself, your team, and our changing Cardiac services.

You will be joining a pro-active, dynamic team of nurses and ODP's who offer the best standards of perioperative care. Every day is different - challenging but rewarding. We pride ourselves on team work, learning, and being forward thinking.

Please note, that due to ongoing service developments the post holder may be required cross site at our other Theatre Complex with the agreement of the Speciality Team Leader.

Main duties of the job

Expectations to deliver a high standard of service with patient safety and quality are a priority. You should be able to demonstrate effective team working and work to the highest standards of evidence based practice.

We practice multi-skilling and are looking to recruit a dynamic Practitioner who wishes to develop their practice in anaesthetic and surgical scrub support. Cardiac experience is preferable but not essential.

The twin Cardiac theatres are part of Clinical Support and they are based within the Trent Cardiac Centre. Our surgery is both complex and innovative and we undertake a range of advanced Minimally Invasive and Open Cardiac procedures.

You will have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification

Communication and Team working

Essential

Demonstrate effective written communication skills

Desirable

Demonstrate Computer literacy & use of IT skills - e-mail, Excel, PowerPoint and Word Demonstrate ability to work within a team

Experience, Analytical and Judgement

Essential

Demonstrate an understanding of the Theatre/Recovery role Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care

Desirable

Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse, or project work Previous theatre experience

Qualifications

Essential

Current level one NMC registration or HCPC registration Diploma or Degree in health/nursing related studies

Desirable

Continuing professional development/ reflective profile Mentorship qualification
