Job Title: Superintendent Pharmacist at University Hospital Southampton Pharmacy Limited

University Hospital Southampton Pharmacy Limited is excited to present a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with us. Join our team as we provide top-notch pharmaceutical services to the Outpatient Department of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a dedicated Superintendent Pharmacist to contribute to our dynamic and friendly team in the Outpatients Pharmacy.

This position is ideal for individuals with a background in hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy looking to transition to a hospital setting.

As a Superintendent Pharmacist registered with the GPhC, your responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical screening and accuracy checking of prescribed medications
  • Enhancing the experience for patients and staff visiting the pharmacy
  • Providing guidance on dosages, side effects, and drug interactions
  • Maintaining precise records of all processed medications
  • Offering community healthcare services like prescription collection and delivery
  • Ensuring a professional, clean, and patient-friendly environment
  • Supervising and training pharmacy support staff
  • Adhering to professional and legal standards of UHS Pharmacy Ltd
  • Staying updated on current pharmacy practices and new drugs

University Hospital Southampton Pharmacy Limited (UPL) is a subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, located in the hospital's main foyer. We offer over-the-counter medicines, pharmacy services for hospital staff, outpatients, and visitors, and strive to be an employer of choice where every individual is valued.

Operating hours: Monday-Friday (09:00 - 18:00) and Saturday mornings (09:00 - 13:00).

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent
  • General Pharmaceutical Council registration
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy
  • Management training or equivalent experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Royal Pharmaceutical Society membership
  • Leadership training

Essential Experience

  • Managing a community or hospital pharmacy
  • 6 years or more work experience
  • Team and service management
  • Staff training experience
  • Change management skills
  • Knowledge of UK Tax system and Pharmacy law
  • Critical evaluation and project management skills
  • Negotiation and influencing abilities

Desirable Experience

  • Both community and hospital pharmacy exposure
  • Robotic dispensing experience
  • Understanding of homecare medicines
  • Service contract management
