The Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH) at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust (UHBW) is looking to grow its talented team of consultants to drive an ambitious future vision of care across Bristol and Weston.


Applications are warmly welcomed for this maternity leave 12 month fixed term contract for a consultant in vitreoretinal surgery, ideally commencing early September 2023.

The post itself is designed to provide sub-specialist vitreoretinal services for patients at the Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH).


The BEH is a highly regarded Regional Centre for Ophthalmology which sits within the Division of Surgery at UHBW (recently rated Good by the CQC).

BEH provides a tertiary referral retina service with an integrated medical retina and VR service closely linked to a new Clinical Research Unit.

The new Retinal Unit Outpatients Department is supported by an excellent medical imaging department.

This is a part-time consultant post. It is designed to provide sub-specialist Vitreo-retinal and cataract services for patients at the Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH). The post will complement existing sub-specialist ophthalmic services led by a team of 31 consultants (Inc. 4 academic).
