The planning and delivery of adult mental health services in consultation with external professionals under the guidance of the Centre Manager.


Salary:
£13'520.00 per annum

Hours per week:20 hours per week

Terms & Conditions:3-month trial period.

30 days annual leave pro rata to include Bank Holidays.

Specific Duties:

  • Liaise with key professionals in the field of mental health to ensure those referred to the Family Caring Centres 'Mental Health Support Group' receive the best possible care and support and provide feedback and ask for extra support and guidance as appropriate.
  • Report 'at risk' vulnerable people to the relevant mental health teams and Centre Manager if concerns are raised or they have not attended for a while.
  • Manage and oversee the work of volunteers and Mental Health Support Workers.
  • Prepare daily records of individuals availing of activities and follow up attendances.
  • Prepare and ensure action of evaluations and Service User Surveys.
  • Help to plan and support events including fundraising activities.
  • Be proactive in creating and supporting new initiatives, liaising with other staff or organisations. Signpost to other relevant services
  • Provide monthly monitoring and statistical reports to include KPI's and meet with Minimum Standards as requested by the NHSCT, Funders and Family Caring Centre
  • Centre Manager & Management Committee.
  • Work within budgets to prepare and deliver appropriate group work sessions and manage external facilitators.
  • Be proficient and responsible for cash handling and ensure relevant procedures are followed.
  • Welcome new referrals whilst undertaking assessments of risk, need and suitability for the group.
  • Oversee support to individuals in the group setting and help them engage.
  • Assist the Support Worker(s) with the setting up and actioning of daily activities.
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers operate in a safe manner at all times in line with Family Caring Centres Health & Safety Policy and all other policies and guidelines.
  • Regularly review own development, actively seek support/supervision and attend training where appropriate.
  • Promote mental health services within the Family Caring Centre and community.
  • Proactively help to reduce the stigma around mental health.
  • The post holder may also be asked to perform various tasks within the organisation as required.

Personnel Specification

The post holder should have:

  • At least 2 years' experience of supervising/managing staff in a mental health setting within the community/voluntary sector.
  • At least 2 years working with vulnerable, adult mental health clients.
  • A strong understanding of issues influencing mental ill health with particular relevance to social issues affecting the lives of the local community and a commitment to reducing the stigma of poor mental health.
  • A knowledge and understanding of key operational policies relating to working with vulnerable adults.
  • Confident IT and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to write reports and work effectively with local charities, community mental health teams and volunteers.
  • A warm and friendly positive nature with good listening skills.
  • A willingness to work as part of a team whilst also demonstrating initiative, leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Level 3 or above qualification relative to the post.
