Principal Mechanical Designer / Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Designer / Engineer to join our dynamic team to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of industrial gas turbines.

Apply the latest systems and technologies in relation to the gas turbine package auxiliary equipment to enhance the performance and reliability of our products.

Provide a technical interface with internal departments, regional divisions, suppliers, and customers, ensuring that the project upgrades are executed within allocated budgets and timescales.


Fault Resolution:
Address and rectify issues in the field by analysing fault reports and implementing corrective actions.
Create and maintain CAD models, layouts, and detailed engineering drawings using Siemens NX software.
Develop comprehensive engineering documentation such as purchase specifications for equipment and components.
As a minimum, HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in a related engineering field is required. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, or a related subject area, is preferred.
Several years of experience in a design and CAD NX role within an associated or similar industry.

Preferred candidates shall be proficient in both Siemens NX and Siemens PLM software with knowledge of piping design in relation to Gas/Steam Turbine and/or Gas Compression auxiliary packaged systems.

Knowledge of AutoCAD would be advantageous.

A fundamental understanding of mechanical design with practical experience in its application, with the ability to understand, interpret, and produce detailed engineering documentation.

Experience in SAP and MS Office Suite is required. The role demands the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them within set timescales.

The candidate will oversee and review the work of other team members, providing guidance and instruction as needed with the ability to mentor and develop junior designers and lead complex tasks.

Excellent problem-solving skills with capability to troubleshoot complex engineering challenges independently.

While the position is primarily office-based, with hybrid working options available, there will be occasional requirement for international travel for both customer and vendor meetings along with site surveys.
