Job Description:

  • Provide resolutions for medium to high-risk or complex cases within the underwriting team's domain, ensuring compliance with Group Service Levels and adhering to rigorous audit and underwriting standards.
  • Assess and process applications falling within the mandate to ascertain risk and liability acceptability, authorizing based on Legal & General Home Finance (LGHF) guidelines, and escalate complex cases or queries to the Underwriting Manager/Technical Manager when necessary.
  • Engage with customers via phone, email, and letters to collect necessary information for application processing and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service while monitoring and enhancing the performance of Junior Underwriters and Underwriting Administrators, providing feedback to the Underwriting Manager on areas for enhancement.
  • Analyze underwriting data to identify trends, generate reports or findings, including statistical data related to underwriting activity for review by the Underwriting management and team.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Mortgage Underwriter
  • Minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics qualifications or equivalent
  • Understanding of Anti Money Laundering (AML), 'Treating Customers Fairly' (TCF), Data Protection requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
