Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist to join our rapidly expanding and highly successful Data Science team, consisting of over 50 skilled and diverse Data Engineers, Scientists, Analysts, and Hunters. As a team, we handle millions of requests daily, which means we need to stay sharp at all times. Therefore, we are always on the lookout for top talent and cutting-edge technologies to remain ahead of the game. As a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist, you will lead the creation of geospatial solutions to tackle complex challenges across various business areas, utilizing your expertise in geospatial data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling. You will contribute to the enhancement of insurance products and services.

Your Focus:
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of geospatial machine learning models to derive insights from vast geospatial datasets.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to grasp business needs and transform them into technical solutions.
  • Perform exploratory analysis and feature engineering to extract pertinent information from geospatial datasets.
  • Build predictive machine learning models, assess model performance, refine models for improved accuracy.
  • Aid in designing and implementing scalable data processing pipelines for geospatial data ingestion, processing, and storage.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in geospatial analytics, machine learning, and data science methodologies, integrating them into current workflows.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced team members, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Effectively communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through clear visualizations, reports, and presentations.
About You
So, what qualities are we seeking?
  • Master's or PhD in Geospatial sciences, Geographical information systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Previous experience in the financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in geospatial data analysis, encompassing geospatial data manipulation, spatial statistics, and visualization.
  • Proficient in programming languages like Python, R, or Java, with familiarity in geospatial libraries such as GDAL, GeoPandas, or ArcPy.
  • Competent in machine learning techniques and libraries for geospatial data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, as well as distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark, for handling extensive geospatial datasets.
  • Knowledge of geospatial databases and data visualization tools like Tableau, QGIS, and ArcGIS.
  • Understanding of satellite imagery analysis, LIDAR data processing, and other remote sensing methodologies.
  • Proven track record in deploying geospatial analytics solutions in production environments and integrating them into existing systems and workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Our Ways of Working
This role can be located in London, Bristol, or Bournemouth offices. As the Senior Geospatial Data Scientist, you will collaborate closely with the entire team across these locations. The Bristol office is a key part of our partnership with the University of Bristol.
