Peer Recovery Support Worker
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles.
We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Band 3 Peer Recovery Workers to be part of East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service.
The post holders will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, working in partnership board wide city wide ADRS services and local community support organisation.
The post holder will demonstrate compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS).
The post holders will be supervised by the Senior Addiction Worker and ultimately responsible to the Nurse Team Leader.
Within East Dunbartonshire's ADP Three Year Strategy there is a strong emphasis on individuals being able to access and benefit from effective, integrated person-centred support to achieve and maintain recovery.
It is intended that the addition of a peer recovery support role will add to the enhancement of a Recovery Orientated System of Care within East Dunbartonshire and support the development and implementation of lived and living experience forums.
The peer recovery support role is accommodated within a wider remit to implement a strategic review of East Dunbartonshire's Alcohol and Drug Service Provision.
The post holder will contribute to the development and day-to-day operation of the lived and living experience forums; promoting life-long recovery as a desirable and achievable goal.
The lived experience of the post holder will be a central part of their role, using their knowledge and wisdom that comes with this experience to support others to achieve their own unique goals.
