Southampton, Southampton, United Kingdom University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust Full time
The PEEER Youth Service at University Hospital Southampton are excited to have a new opportunity within the team.

This is a Youth Support Worker role, ideal for anyone newer to Youth work and wanting to develop skills in a new environment.

This specific role will be within the Neurology Rehabilitation Team, with a function of supporting young people recovering from a neurological injury of any kind as a part of the holistic service of care offered.

We recognise that rehabilitation can be frustrating and scary, and young people priorities and motivators may not be the same as the health teams or carers.

The Youth Support worker will have the unique opportunity to work with the young person and ensure that their priorities and interests are central to their journey.

This role will be predominantly ward based at Southampton, although there will be some community liaison work supporting young people back into their own environment and accessing activities and support that enhance their continuing progress.

As a Youth Support Worker, the post holder will be supported by the Youth Service Manager, but also allocated a Senior Youth Development Worker who will provide mentorship and support career development.

The PEEER Youth Service at Southampton has grown over the last 2 years and offers a welcoming team of like-minded colleagues, all of whom consider the principles of Youth Work essential to effectively supporting young people and helping to navigate their health care path.

For an overview of the main duties of the role please see the 'Job Description and Main Responsibilities' section below.

To understand the day-to-day responsibilities in more detail please read the full job description document attached.
