Main Purpose:


The role of a children's worker requires a committed and innovative individual who brings creativity, fun and patience to support children's development.

The role requires working as a team to provide engaging activities for Primary School aged children.

  • To offer supervision and guidance in structured activities.
  • To provide a positive role model to young people.
  • To provide enriching activities for children.
  • To encourage children to develop their health and wellbeing.
  • To ensure all equipment is properly stored at the end of each session.
  • To ensure facilities are cleaned and tidied throughout every session.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work as part of a team to deliver a holiday activity club for Primary School aged children.
  • To establish relationships of trust and mutual respect with children and to offer them support and encouragement.
  • To be a good communicator who is able to relate to children in a positive way and have an understanding and empathy of their situations and issues.
  • To assist your line manager and your colleagues to establish and maintain reasonable boundaries and discipline.
  • To keep session assessment records and, if requested, to assist in producing reports based on this information.
  • To work within the Conquer Life CIC and local area safeguarding and child protection procedures and policies. Promoting a culture and environment at all times where young people feel safe and protected.
  • To attend regular review, supervisions and planning meetings with your line manager
  • To attend any training identified as necessary by your line manager as part of your personal development programme.
  • To adhere to the organisations policies at all times, with particular emphasis on Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and Child Protection.
  • To report any behaviour, conversations or comments which are inappropriate within a setting for children and young people.

Person Specification:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate that they can meet the following:

Qualifications

  • Childcare or Playwork Qualification (_Desirable_)
  • First Aid Qualification (_Desirable_)

Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent judgement and decision making ability
  • Ability to engage with groups of children in games and activities
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and work well under pressure
  • Ability to resolve conflicts calmly with patience and tolerance

Competencies _

Experience

  • Experience of delivering activities with children

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, Diversity Awareness and Safeguarding best practice and how these relate to young people and staff.

This seasonal post is initially to cover the Summer Holiday period, however there may be opportunities for further work during school term time and in future school holidays.

Shifts will be between 9am - 4:30pm.
