IR35: Inside
Rate to intermediary: £18.18 per hour umbrella

Spinwell is looking to fill the position of Clinical Coder for a great opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLINICAL CODER

The Clinical Coding Team is responsible for extracting and translating inpatient information using the ICD-10 and OPCS-4 Coding Classifications, in accordance with national coding standards.

This information is crucial for effective Trust management and the National Tariff Payment System. Coded data is essential for clinical audit, governance, and research purposes.

As an Accredited Clinical Coder, you will analyze complex clinical information, making judgments based on electronic and paper-based health records.

Clinical Coders play a vital role in providing mandatory data for information and financial reporting purposes at local and national levels.

The ideal candidate should be an Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) with completion of the National Clinical Coding Qualification and proficient in interacting with clinicians and operational staff.


SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OF CLINICAL CODER

  • Accredited Clinical Coder (Successful completion of National Clinical Coding Qualification).
  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience in clinical coding within an acute hospital setting.
  • Experience in coding various inpatient activities in an acute NHS Trust setting.
  • Proficiency in using paper and electronic records to extract clinical information.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft applications.
  • Proven ability to extract and analyze complex clinical information.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding standards applicable to NHS inpatient activities.
  • Awareness of the importance of clinical coding, data issues impact, and Information Governance principles.
