Main Duties of the Job

About the Role
An excellent opportunity has emerged for an Optical Assistant to join our community team, operating in local GP surgeries or mobile units. This setup enables us to provide convenient appointments for patients in the community. In this role, you will independently manage clinics, conducting diagnostic tests like 2D and 3D scans, eye pressure measurements, peripheral vision checks, and reading chart examinations. Comprehensive training will be provided by our clinical team.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities
Once trained, you will have the ability to:

  • Independently manage pre- and post-operative diagnostic clinics
  • Support patients throughout their CHEC journey and address any concerns
  • Prepare clinic areas and documents
  • Conduct pre-examination diagnostics like Intraocular pressures, OCT scans, and visual acuities
  • Perform tasks including instilling eye drops, blood pressure monitoring, temperature testing, and blood glucose monitoring
  • Assist in hospital diagnostic clinics as needed

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving adaptability

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software systems
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new internal systems
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks independently
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor for patient interactions
