We offer in-house design, supply and installation of general fencing systems & hoardings, car parking vehicle restraint systems, high-security fencing systems, hostile vehicle mitigation, electronic security systems, automated gates, vehicle restraint & parapet systems, environmental noise barriers, access control, pedestrian & vehicular access systems, pedestrian guardrails and associated ground works.


Due to the growth of the business within the last 12 months, we are currently looking for Trainee Fencing Operative/Fencing Labourer(s) in the above three locations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Safety Qualifications. We can help you gain these qualifications if needed.
  • Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.
  • Fencing Operatives will hold as a minimum a FISS/ CSCS Labourer (green) card.
  • Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives
  • A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Role Summary
The role will assist with the fencing works on site in accordance with health & safety guidelines. Understand hazards, risks, and work in the RAMS & site briefings, whilst achieving output and building to specification.

The goal is to ensure that operations are carried out safely as our first thought and action, whilst also ensuring profitability, productivity and being environmentally sensitive.


Key Responsibilities

  • The role is to work as a member of a fencing team, undertaking manual tasks designated by the Lead Fencer. Supporting qualified fence installers on all fence and barrier types
  • Fence types can include.
  • Boundary fencing covering
  • Post and Rail, Livestock,
  • Timber Vehicle restraint covering local and strategic road network.
  • Acoustic/Environmental barriers
  • Bridge Parapets and Pedestrian Guardrails
  • Security Fencing, prisons, and wild animals
  • Gates

Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.

Guidance and training will be provided if needed.

You will follow direction from lead fencer to:

  • Ensure all works are carried out safely, in line with RAMS, briefings and permits presented by Lead Fencers and Supervisors.
  • Ensure that all checks and certification on plant and equipment are carried out and in date.
  • Ensure you and the rest of your teamwork in a safe and tidy manner and wear the correct personal protective equipment.
  • LWF and our Clients undertake random drug and alcohol tests in line with the sector and company policy of zero tolerance.

General site requirements and skills

  • Ideally you would have a reasonable understanding of Fencing specifications and knowledge of installation techniques. However, this can be provided through an apprenticeship and/or on the job training.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies & procedures.
  • Role does require a level of fitness to be able to provide manual handling support within an approved safe system of work.
  • Able to work outside throughout the year. Protection will be provided.
  • Good communication skills. We are increasingly using technology to improve our ways of working. You would support the team in this.
  • Able to work on own tasks and in a team.
