The Purpose


To be responsible for the efficient management of all staff, resources, systems and processes relating to the day to day activities of Furniture Resource Centre's warehouse in Manchester.

To ensure all operations adhere to all relevant FRC Group policies and best practice at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be a responsible key holder and responsible for the security of the warehouse, offices, yard area, vehicles and stock. To ensure that the warehouse and yard areas are kept clean and tidy and comply with health and safety requirements at all times.
  • To ensure the security of company stock at all times.
  • Organise all activities and assign jobs accordingly for warehouse and installation staff
  • Ensure that all relevant processes are followed and all relevant paperwork is completed according to company policies
  • To pick product and place in the allotted picking bays for the next day's deliveries in line with the scheduled orders
  • Ensure that all end of day sheets are completed by 12noon, and ensure all picking is completed by close of play the day prior to delivery. Identify suitable alternative/substitute products for items on the End of Day sheets to help ensure that delivery is achieved
  • Run an 'orders due' report each morning for warehouse staff and check off received deliveries as they arrive. Forward to the Stock Controller at the end of each day
  • Accurately receive all stock deliveries onto the system and raise any discrepancies with the Stock Controller as soon as possible after receiving goods
  • Ensure all delivery notes are signed, dated and filed in line with company procedure
  • To oversee the returns of any product and associated paperwork coming back into the warehouse. To ensure any returns are quarantined in line with company policy and procedure
  • Plan, organise and control warehouse operations. Ensure the safe and efficient movement of stock to include receipt, quality checking, booking in of stock on system, storage, picking and loading of goods. Maintain housekeeping of warehouse and surrounding area. Take responsibility for the security of the building, yard, containers and stock.
  • Work with stock controller to ensure timely and accurate stock checks and that all ancillary stock items (e.g. curtain track, battons, electrical wire) are always available for completion of related works
  • Identify any requirements for additional staff or resources in the warehouse to meet customer demands and secure any additional resources or staff as agreed by line manager
  • Achieve all related conditions, targets, and commitments set out in all Furniture Resource Centre contracts
  • Implement cost reduction principle in all aspects of warehouse and transport transactions and activities
  • Prepare and carry out stocktake as required
  • Ensure that all Furniture Resource Centre warehouse and transport staff are as fully integrated as possible into FRC Group's culture by championing and embedding FRC Group values of Passion, Bravery, Creativity and Professionalism.
  • Supervise the activities of the Furniture Resource Centre subcontractors who use warehouse and yard
  • Be flexible and innovative and shape the job in light of changing business developments

Primary Objectives of the Team Leader

  • Health and safety of the workforce and understands health and safety procedures.
  • Be fully aware of all client SLAs in relation to picking and delivery
  • Works collaboratively with other departments / business areas to ensure client requirements are met
  • Supports with training and guidance to colleagues and proactively develops the team.

What we need from you
Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Leadership skills including experience of leading, motivating and developing team performance in a multidisciplined team.
  • 3 years' experience in a supervisory role which includes the supervision of a multi vehicle logistics team
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional standards and a diverse workplace
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to manage and manage behaviour within teams
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Good computer skills and proficient in excel, work and outlook
  • Hands on experience with warehouse management software
