Job Description

Brakes is offering a great opportunity for a Data Steward to join the central data team and report to the Head of Data, Reporting & Insights GB.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring consistency, monitoring, and compliance with defined standards and governance for Sysco GB activities in the data and analytics space.

You will be a key coordinator within the central data team, supporting the enablement of agile data and analytics innovations within established standards and principles to maintain data architecture principles, development standards, and identify data network risks and opportunities.

This position focuses solely on efforts within Sysco GB data and analytics and does not extend support to international or US-owned items within the GB space.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and steward the Analytics Development Process and Ways of Working with functions to ensure compliance and educate on standards (e.g., coding, data builds, refresh times, scheduling, capturing criticality, service support agreements, etc.)
  • Manage analytics archiving rules to ensure dashboards are reviewed and cleansed according to standards.
  • Centralize Data and Dashboard business ownership and review access rights aligned with security views, manage license requirements, and challenge to reduce costs as needed.
  • Ensure all developments go through the required governance process (i.e., TDA) if necessary and identify exceptions to future state architecture.
  • Own and manage the data catalogue and lineage mapping, data configurations, reporting data (or data process) dictionary across the data landscape.
  • Assess data or application changes for business impacts, support technology change programs assessing impacts to data requirements.
  • Ensure data availability for new requirements and/or support the review of new data points if needed.
  • Promote reducing data movement across the business by identifying areas of data movement duplication for resolution.
  • Holder of requirements and documentation, ensuring all reporting and analytics developments are appropriately documented and updated - maintains visibility of key data points for users (SEED Tables, ODI tables, etc.).
  • Steward and auditor of functional KPIs to ensure measurement consistency.

About you:

To be successful in this role, candidates need experience in working on large-scale, complex IT/data and analytics transformation projects with experience in defining data asset standards and policies to ensure data quality, consistency, privacy, and security. As an agent for change, you must possess excellent facilitation and influencing skills with a proven ability to listen and communicate across various stakeholder audience groups to drive accountability and ownership of data assets. You should be resilient, execution-focused, and have a strong desire to provide simplification and process efficiencies by implementing automated data governance processes and supporting technologies. Additionally, a critical thinking and analytical mindset, the ability to measure and communicate data governance impacts, and relevant project management and planning skills are essential to manage multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
