Job Summary:

The Estimator/Buyer will play a crucial role in the estimation and procurement process for a wide range of joinery products.

This role involves the estimation of live and tender joinery contracts, preparation of job sheets, ordering materials, and scheduling work to meet monthly targets.

The successful candidate will be proficient in using Word, Excel, and Sage packages to prepare quotations and schedules, handle customer queries, and collaborate closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure customer deadlines and requirements are met.


Main Responsibilities:

Estimation:

  • Estimate live and tender joinery contracts received via email and telephone.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of joinery products.

Order Processing:

  • Prepare job sheets upon order receipt.
  • Order materials necessary for project completion.
  • Schedule work for the month in alignment with targets set by the Managing Director.

Customer Interaction:

  • Handle customer queries and provide support over the telephone.
  • Maintain a high level of service, courtesy, and professionalism when dealing with customers.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Utilise Word, Excel, and Sage packages to prepare quotations and schedule work.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Senior Management Team to meet customer deadlines and requirements.
  • Operate as an effective team member, contributing to the overall management of the business.

Main Purpose:

  • Adapt to customer needs while maintaining high standards of service and professionalism.
  • Liaise with the Senior Management Team regarding work schedules and priorities.
  • Contribute effectively to the overall management of the business by undertaking necessary tasks.

Qualifications:

Desirable:

  • Proficient keyboard skills.
  • Previous experience in buying and estimating.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Time-served Joiner or Wood Machinist.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the joinery and building industry.
  • Good telephone manner and correspondence skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills for accurate estimation.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Sage.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
