Ocean Exports Operator

Our client, a well-established and expanding International Freight Forwarding & Logistics Provider, are looking to recruit an Ocean Exports Operator to be based at offices in Basildon, Essex

Main Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Ocean Export Manager, handling all daily ocean export shipments from booking to invoicing.

Providing expert advice to clients regarding logistics and freight forwarding processes, documentation, or any other shipping questions which may arise.

Booking, arranging for, or confirming cargo space with carriers. Ensures company policies & procedures are aligned with operational work & external and internal stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Ocean Export Operator:

• Arrange transport such as LCL, FCL, Hazardous, OOG or general cargo via truck or vessel outside the UK for forwarders and UK customers
• Obtain, check and prepare documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packaging specifications, and compliance with overseas countries' regulations and fiscal regimes
• Processing Quotations
• Process custom documentation on export system
• Answer phone queries and communication sent by customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Keep the day-to-day business running smoothly, keep the customers/agents informed/satisfied
• Ensure that invoices are posted within a specified time frame
• Work with the Finance Team to help manage credit control and minimize bad debts
• Help out on export quotes if necessary
• Help and support individuals on the team if required

• You will have proven experience of ocean export freight-forwarding operations
• Attention to detail
• Demonstrate agility and development within the role
• Able to multitask and effectively handle changing priorities under pressure
• Ability to always maintain confidentiality
• Desire to adapt to a new and changing processes as required by the business
