- To assist the registered nurses with direct & indirect patient cares within all areas of the ED
- To report any concerns to the registered nurse relating to standards of cleanliness, hazards and patient safety within the clinical area
- To ensure the registered nurses are regularly updated on the patient's condition and progress and escalate any concerns
- To ensure the environment and equipment is clean and in good working order
- To work closely with the housekeeper to ensure stock levels are correct
- To demonstrate effective communication to ensure an effective handover of care
- To maintain patient confidentiality and act as an advocate for the patients
- Identify areas of audit in the department and be actively involved in quality improvement
- To ensure appropriate escalation of any patient safeguarding concerns
- To maintain a continuous professional development portfolio
- With appropriate training, perform and document patient observations and escalate any concerns
- With appropriate training, perform ECG's and venepuncture
- Assist in booking patient transport
- Assist the nursing team in caring for patients requiring mental health support
- Maintain a good professional working relationship with the ED multidisciplinary team
