Pen Underwriting (Manchester Underwriting Management) are looking for a Senior Claims Adjuster in Financial Lines who will be responsible for adjusting large complex UK and International claims from first notification to resolution, exemplifying the Pen philosophy and providing exceptional service, through strong technical and communication skills.

The role will report to and assist the Technical Claims Manager.

Your Role:

  • Receive and assess claims notifications and establish and update claims on internal systems.
  • Determine, develop and communicate strategy and advice to brokers and insurers.
  • Establish, monitor and revise reserves.
  • Respond to and deal with all correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with and advise brokers, insurers, underwriters and insureds throughout the lifecycle of the claim as appropriate.
  • Negotiate settlements and manage payments.
  • Set and administer claims diaries.
  • Instruct and oversee third party service providers.
  • Maintain all current claims records and documents.
  • Attend events, meetings, and dispute resolution processes in London and regionally.
  • Follow and adhere to Claims Handling Authorities and legal/regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that relevant records are made and kept in accordance with the firm's procedures and compliance manuals.
  • Manage the new claims inbox and oversee/ be a point of contact for our inhouse secondees.

Your Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a claims adjuster handling both UK and International matters.
  • Demonstrable proficient and successful claims handling and negotiating abilities.
  • Education to A level standard or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven client/customer management aptitude.
  • Good IT skills in Word, Excel and Outlook and a willingness to learn in house systems.
  • London/subscription market working familiarity.
  • Awareness of external claims processes e.g., ECF/CLASS.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
