We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team of professional engineers. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings across our municipality.

The role involves:

  • Review and assess structural engineering calculations and drawings for new builds, extensions, and renovations.
  • Apply your in-depth knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant British Standards / Eurocodes.
  • Liaise with architects, developers, and builders to ensure projects meet all structural requirements.
  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance to colleagues across departments and the public relating to structural engineering matters.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and implementation of Council policies relating to Structural Engineering with an emphasis on Building Control.
  • Conduct site inspections, structural surveys and produce structural survey reports.
  • 6 years' experience in structural engineering consultancy or local authority building control.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or near Chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents and relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
