Are you enthusiastic about making a difference in the fight against climate change? Join the Forest of Dean District Council as a Climate Change Community Programme Advisor and be part of building a sustainable future for our communities.

As a Climate Change Community Programme Advisor, your role will be crucial in implementing the Council's Climate Emergency Strategy and Action Plan. You will be instrumental in promoting and facilitating actions towards a low carbon, climate resilient society. Your tasks will include linking local communities and organizations to opportunities that drive change such as grants, schemes, and initiatives.

In this position, you will provide support to the Forest of Dean Climate Action Partnership (FODCAP) to encourage collaborative efforts and strategic engagement. Working closely with town and parish councils, you will assist in integrating climate change considerations into their plans and investments.

Reporting to the Head of Climate Action Net Zero, you will collaborate with the Climate Change Community Delivery Lead to turn strategy into actionable steps. Your responsibilities will involve identifying funding sources, developing project opportunities, and promoting initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to climate change impacts.

Key skills for this role include the ability to influence stakeholders, establish partnerships, and communicate effectively to drive change collectively.

You will need

  • Experience in climate change, sustainability engagement, or related roles
  • Understanding of climate change evidence, targets, and the basis for action
  • Qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Effective communication and adaptability in various contexts
  • Collaborative work approach with diverse stakeholders

You will be employed by Publica Group Ltd, a collaboration of four partner Councils dedicated to providing efficient services.
