6 days ago

Loughborough, Leicestershire, United Kingdom DNV Full time

Here at DNV, what we do matters. Whether it's helping the Energy Industry transition to a decarbonised and sustainable future or helping protect life, property and the environment, every day, what you do, will make a difference. This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.

Our Marine Risk service line is part of the Offshore Infrastructure department here at DNV. We provide consultancy and advisory services, partnering with various stakeholders across a variety of offshore projects spanning the energy spectrum. We offer a portfolio of services that primarily focuses on traditional Oil and Gas whilst also looking to create leading indicators within renewables, decarbonisation, and future fuels.

We create partnerships in managing risk with our clients to find innovative and pragmatic solutions to our industry's most challenging problems. The risks associated with station keeping, loss of containment and the uncertainty of future fuels and technologies require a deep understanding of stakeholder requirements and technical disposition. Our primary work scope includes the application of our deep domain knowledge to identify risks associated with offshore vessels utilising dynamic positioning (DP) systems. We then assist our clients with mitigating these risks to safeguard life, property, and the environment (in alignment with DNV's purpose).

As a member of our team, supporting the delivery of services to customers, you'll be given real responsibility to manage and deliver global projects, whilst you continue to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the Energy industry.

Our Opportunity:

Based in either our Aberdeen, London, or Loughborough offices (or optionally, working remotely), you'll join a diverse group of Master Mariners and Marine, Electrical and Control System engineers providing advisory and consultancy services, in marine risk management, to a diverse range of clients. We have a proud history of developing talented people into industry experts, and we are keen to hear from people with a desire to utilise their technical experience at the forefront of the energy transition.

As a Senior Electrical and Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical work, managing projects, whilst also supporting and mentoring less experienced members of our team. Your strong technical background will ensure the successful delivery of risk analyses in compliance with international codes and guidelines, while meeting deadlines and budgetary requirements. Additionally, you will have ample opportunities to engage in project management and commercial activities, with the autonomy to lead and support technical proposal preparation.

Your expertise will be invaluable in helping shape our team's approach to creating innovative solutions for our clients, defining our future strategy, and enhancing our capabilities to identify opportunities for wider integration of our services. You'll also work closely with our business development team, contributing to winning new business with existing and potential clients, developing proposals, bidding for contracts, attending client meetings and building relationships with key stakeholders.

This role requires a variety of skills , you'll be stretched, but always supported and surrounded by people who want you to thrive, develop and embrace new challenges.

You will be given opportunity to:

Conduct FMEA analysis and proving trials for DP vessels and Industrial Mission critical systems. Perform Annual DP trials, audits, and assist with vessel assurance activities on vessels at sea. Engage in DP technical projects requiring consultancy and advisory services. Participate in technical and procedural reviews, as well as development of operational guidelines. Lead and assist in the preparation of tenders and proposals for management of Marine Risk services. Ensure you are at the cutting edge of technology and industry best practice while collaborating with bodies like IMCA, MTS, OCIMF and IMO in comprehending and implementing their guidance. Develop skills in emerging areas such as hybrid technology, future fuels, and autonomous vessels. Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations and output as an individual and as an integral part of a driven team. Create an impact on the bigger challenges by assisting stakeholders reach their Greenhouse Gas emission reduction, Decarbonisation, and Incident Free operation targets.

We value all our people and the contributions they make to our business, so it's important that our rewards make us all feel valued here. That's why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package, allowing you to choose the things that matter most to you, including;
