A young but fast growing Energy Trading client of ours are currently seeking a adept Software Engineer to come work on the development of a suite of web applications catered for Risk and Middle Office teams on an initial 12-month Outside IR35 contract basis.
They are aiming to further digitalize and automate their Risk and MO processes. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and managers, decipher their needs, and lead the conceptualization and design phase.
The team thrives on technology, maintaining a contemporary stack that includes:
- C# / .NET 5, 6, 7
- Angular
- Docker & Kubernetes
- Azure, Azure DevOps, IaC (Bicep) (advantageous but happy to see AWS)
- Unit Testing software
- Python (advantageous)
- Powershell (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
The role will be split between Backend (60%) and Frontend (40%), they are looking for engineer who can work independently and will attempt to solve problems before reaching out to other internal teams.
- You will be coming in to initially work on a project to automate their P&L process and supporting the company by building a clean UI system in a .NET / C# & Angular environment.
- You will work closely with the VP of risk and other stakeholders to to grasp requirements, establish a product backlog, and lead UI/UX design and envisioning.
- Working on a variety of greenfield projects within the company to refine the Middle Office & Risk process's.
- Contribute to migrating existing tools and processes to sophisticated technologies, including cloud, web interfaces, monitoring, and test automation.
- Proactively immerse in the companies business, acquiring knowledge to communicate effectively with users.
- Aid in defining and consistently enhancing the end-to-end IT delivery process and work methodologies.
- Foster knowledge sharing through documentation and workshops.
Qualifications
- 4+ years as a .NET / C# developer is a must.
- Proficiency in modern web development with tools like Angular or React.
- Strong capability to produce clean, modular, maintainable code.
- Proficiency in database design (both relational and non-relational).
- Experience in various types of test automation.
- Strong cloud experience, Azure preferred but open to seeing someone from an AWS background.
- Excellent communication skills and some technical writing experience (e.g., solution design documents, support guides).
- Proactive in engaging with users and team management to identify high-level requirements, strategize development plans, and oversee the entire development lifecycle while keeping stakeholders updated.
Nice-to-Haves
- Python experience and understanding of its strengths and weaknesses.
- Developing containerized microservice architectures using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to DevOps, build and release pipeline management, scripting, automation.
- A keen sense of aesthetics and detail, along with the ability to collaborate using various design and wireframing tools.
- A background working with algorithm's.
- Previous experience in a business-facing development role within a commodity trading organization or equivalent tech environment.
