If so, our position of Senior Gastroenterology and Nutrition Support Dietitian at University Hospitals Birmingham (Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull) is the one for you

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic dietitian to join our team.

We provide inpatient and outpatient dietetic support in a range of specialities including nutrition support, parenteral nutrition, critical care and surgery.

You would be joining a large, friendly and supportive dietetic department that covers a variety of specialities.

This is a fantastic time to join our team as we continue to develop and expand our service provision.

We are currently exploring the development of advanced dietetic practice roles within our team including insertion of nasal bridles/nasogastric tubes, supplementary prescribing and are involved in development of various in site working group pathways such as enteral nutrition, dysmotility, parenteral nutrition and eating disorders.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

This post provides an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a diverse range of gastroenterology conditions including HPB, IBD, IBS including FODMAPs, coeliac disease, GI dysmotility, complex enteral nutrition, upper and lower GI surgery, critical care and parenteral nutrition.

The role will include acute ward cover, outpatient clinics (dietetic and MDT clinics), attending Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and providing educational talks (to patients and staff).


In addition to the clinical aspects of the role, the post-holder will also be responsible for training dietetic placement students and dietetic assistants, supervising band 5 rotational dietitians, taking part in audits and clinical supervision/reflection.


You will be joining a busy team therefore excellent communication skills and a high standard of organisation and time management are essential for the role.

  • Degree in dietetics or equivalent
  • Current State Registration with HCPC

Experience:

  • Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in gastroenterology/surgery. This would usually be approximately 12 months.
  • Demonstration of clinical experience of working with patients within speciality
