The Software Development department is accountable for delivering medical software products utilized in hospitals for cancer diagnosis and treatment planning, monitoring patient treatment response over time. These products significantly impact doctors' ability to assist their patients effectively and efficiently. The medical devices are directly distributed to end users under the Mirada brand or integrated into other vendors' solutions. The department collaborates with the Quality and Regulatory department to ensure products adhere to necessary standards in countries where they are sold, and with the Science and Product Managers to ensure all Mirada products meet required functionality and user needs.

Reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing specific areas within Mirada's software to align with client requirements. Your responsibilities include ensuring development complies with the applicable software development process, contributing to enhancing the development environment and products, and potentially overseeing junior engineers.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the role consist of:

  • Software development covering analysis, architecture and design, development, testing, and related documentation
  • Estimation and regular progress updates on all tasks
  • Active involvement in reviewing personal and others' work
  • Engagement in company and functional improvement programs proactively
  • Line management, coaching, and mentoring of the team
  • Participation in the quality process and its ongoing enhancement
  • Working independently or collaboratively and engaging with all functional groups as necessary
  • Providing support and maintenance for software issues, including potential site visits
  • Research, exploration, and prototyping in new areas upon request
  • Validation of internal and 3rd party software
  • Possibly leading small teams' work and reporting progress to the Software Development Manager
  • Expected expertise in one or more technologies or disciplines
  • Commitment to continuous learning, self-development, and knowledge sharing
  • Occasional general administrative tasks as needed

We are seeking candidates with the following skills and competencies:

  • Proficiency in Java development, including experience with Swing (or willingness to acquire)
  • Hands-on experience with IDE, source control systems, issue tracking systems, and build systems
  • Track record in developing software based on requirement specifications
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in a leadership capacity
  • Comprehensive understanding of the complete software development lifecycle
  • Capability to gather input from key stakeholders during the design phase
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to tackle technical challenges with initiative
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical users
  • Preference for individuals experienced in medical imaging and the DICOM standard
