Netherby Hall Limited is a vibrant and exciting business which operates across several sites in the Longtown and Penton area.


The historic grade II* listed manor house of Netherby Hall sits in 36 acres of parkland with extensive gardens and recently renovated Victorian stables.

The Hall dates back to the 16th century, and the site has undergone several exciting transformations over recent years.

The Hall hosts several private and public events each year, ranging from the Netherby Hall Car Show Weekend to our Garden Open Days, and 9 on-site luxury self-catering holiday lets provide the perfect spaces for our guests to explore our wonderful local area.


The business also incorporates Pentonbridge Inn, a Michelin Plate and 3 AA Rosette restaurant with 9 rooms which markets itself to foodies who travel to enjoy an amazing food experience.

In addition, the business has retail sales, selling Netherby Hall gin and other unique products through our two main outlets and from our online shop.

There are also three farms in the local area managed by Netherby Hall Limited, and with this a substantial amount of land.

The company has also recently purchased the nearby Kingfield Estate.

Job role:

  • Provide out of hours and weekend cover for guest services at Netherby Hall answering guest queries and dealing with emergencies.
  • Ensure safe evacuation of the building in the event of fire or other emergency.
  • Driving guests between Netherby Hall and Pentonbridge Inn.
  • Dealing with late and weekend checkins and checkouts.
  • Assisting at events.
  • Ensuring communal areas accessible to guests are kept neat and tidy when on duty.
  • Preparing and clearing outside areas for guest use (e.g. barbeques, picnics, firepit).
  • Check the security of the house and grounds.

Other duties to include:

  • Watering containers around the accommodation units.
  • Looking after the garden cats
  • Looking after the bees.
  • Preparing online orders for dispatch.
  • Gritting paths in winter.

Working hours/pay/accommodation:

  • Living onsite under a service occupancy agreement (initially in North Wall Cottage, a onebedroom, twostorey property in our gardens, and then in a renovated staff flat in the Peel Tower section of Netherby Hall once the development is completed).
  • Working Wednesday to Sunday night time cover during the week and all day at the weekends.
  • 35hour working week at national minimum wage adjusted for accommodation offset with overtime for additional hours at £10.42/hour. The salary based on this is expected to be £15,625 plus overtime.
  • No charge for heating and electricity.
  • Responsible for paying Council tax and Television licence.

Operations Manager

Essential Requirements:
Full driving licence

Desirable:
basic maintenance skills, knowledge of beekeeping, first aid
