EPMO Director Role Description
The EPMO Director will play a crucial role in supporting major Capital Expenditure, Construction, and IT initiatives. This position reports directly to the CEO and presents an exciting opportunity for a candidate experienced in managing diverse projects across different locations, while driving organizational transformation and expansion. The ideal candidate should possess a background in PMO roles within decentralized organizations.
This international organization is currently broadening its horizons into new territories and commencing a significant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) upgrade across more than 20 locations.
As the EPMO Director, you will establish a seamless connection between strategy, execution, and impact assessment. Your responsibilities will include ensuring strategic alignment across all projects within the organization, rather than focusing solely on individual endeavors. This role aims to standardize project management, reporting processes, and data management, generating consistent records to support informed decision-making at all levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a central hub for project plans, communications, and resources, accurately scheduling project phases and tasks.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks by developing precise timelines, budgets, and visual aids.
- Effectively allocate resources, allowing for contingencies to address unforeseen challenges without derailing project progress.
- Develop templates based on successful recurring projects, phases, and tasks to streamline future planning processes.
- Establish a centralized repository for all project-related materials, including onboarding documents, meeting minutes, and promotional assets.
- Define workflows and processes accessible to all employees to enhance operational efficiency.
- Plan and define project scope, goals, deliverables, necessary resources, work plans, budgets, and timelines for new initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to optimize returns on investment, monitor project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
- Conduct regular planning sessions for programs, setting goals, outcome metrics, sequencing, dependencies, and timelines.
- Identify essential requirements from cross-functional teams and external partners as needed.
- Assess, address, and mitigate program risks, prepare reports and dashboards for management and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement effective project communication strategies.
- Manage change requests to keep all stakeholders informed of schedule and budget implications.
- Enforce accountability and discipline among teams to ensure focus and adherence to the project plan.
The successful candidate is expected to have prior experience in a similar EPMO capacity, with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and overseeing simultaneous projects across various disciplines involving multiple stakeholders. Familiarity with large-scale Capital Expenditure projects and IT programs is preferred.
