Job Summary

The CT department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King's Lynn is offering an opportunity for a band 5 Radiographer to specialize in CT. Newly qualified Radiographers are encouraged to apply.

You will be involved in 7-day work at both the QEH and Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) sites.

This position aims to enhance knowledge, skills, and development possibilities within the department.

Upon completion of training, there may be opportunities, subject to operational circumstances, to work in other areas.

Applicants will receive support and training to become proficient in conducting standard scans and certain angiography studies. For more complex studies like Cardiac imaging and CT Virtual Colonography, you will assist senior team members.

This role includes the chance to be trained in Cannulation and PGD to administer contrast. Additionally, there is support from the East of England imaging academy for CT-specific training.

Consideration will be given only to applicants with verified NHS experience.

Main Duties of the Job

You will be guided to maintain a clinical logbook with competency sign-offs, covering Patient Group Directives and cannulation. Other responsibilities include:

  • Effective communication with the Modality Team Lead, Consultant Radiologists, clinical staff, and radiology assistant staff.
  • Conducting imaging examinations either independently or as part of a team, upholding high professional standards.
  • Becoming and staying adept at image manipulation.
  • Participating in departmental quality assurance programs.
  • Ensuring accurate completion of patient documentation following departmental protocols and data protection regulations.
  • Participating in 7-day work, night shifts, on-call duties, and bank holiday rotations as needed.
  • Having a comprehensive understanding of all equipment and relevant IT systems.
  • Assessing patient needs and planning care delivery accordingly.
  • Ensuring safe patient transfers, particularly for those with spinal trauma.

Qualifications/Training & Professional Development
