Personal Care Assistant / Support Worker required to assist a young man aged 19 with Autism and Learning Disabilities living in the Hamilton area.

This person is nonverbal.


You would be required to provide one-to-one care and assistance outside their home, at college, day centre and in the community including participation in social activities.

Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:

  • Assistance and guidance in completing activities at college
  • Assistance and guidance when travelling by car, bus and train where appropriate
  • Assistance and guidance in various outdoor and indoor recreational activities, e.g. swimming, going for walks, visiting local places
  • Helping to develop communication through using AAC software (nonverbal person)
  • Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living

Driver essential and you will be required to use your own vehicle - mileage allowance will be paid at £0.45 per mile
The person on some occasions may display 'challenging behaviour', this requires patience and flexibility when this occurs.


Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.

Some favourite activities are cooking, playing/listening to music, horse care/riding, sensory experiences, swimming, walking and gardening.

Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.


The most important qualities are a warm, flexible and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role with an ability to adapt to the assisted person and understand their non-verbal communication.

You will be positive, compassionate and patient.

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility)
Recruiting for one assistant

Guaranteed permanent position of 8 hours per week with the option for potential overtime

Days and times:

Wednesdays: 10.30am - 2.30pm

Fridays: 10.30am - 2.30pm

Hourly rate:

£10.90 per hour
