MDT CO-ORDINATOR/MEDICAL SECRETARY - RESPIRATORY DEPARTMENT

An opportunity has arisen for an MDT Co-ordinator/Medical Secretary to work full time within the Respiratory Department.

This post will be to support the consultants, nurses and multi-disciplinary team and to provide a high quality, efficient and effective administration and secretarial service.

You will be responsible for ensuring work is completed within strict timescales, supporting clinical & non-clinical activities.

You will need to exercise your judgement and initiative based on experience and knowledge of arising problems and take appropriate action to resolve situations, including follow up of investigation results, ensuring that all results are presented to medical staff and subsequently actioned in a timely manner.

You will have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise your workload and to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner with tact and diplomacy.

You will be able to communicate in a professional manner with patients, relatives, Trust staff and other departments and have a compassionate nature.

To be responsible for ensuring an optimum level of efficient clerical and administrative support to the clinical respiratory team for the MDT meetings and provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the respiratory consultants and team, including maintaining departmental databases/spreadsheets, typing of letters, medical reports, filing, maintaining team diary, dealing with enquiries and arranging appointments.

Work as a member of the respiratory team, supporting other team members as necessary and ensuring good communication channels are maintained.


STAFF CAR PARKING


Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 - 18:30.


For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.

  • Organise and assist with the weekly Thoracic multidisciplinary meetings. They will ensure that appropriate actions are brought to the attention of the medical team, e.g. referrals, investigations and planned cases for those patients listed for the multidisciplinary meeting. Obtain investigation results and patient information as required from other hospitals. The post holder will attend the multidisciplinary meeting by Microsoft Teams or in person, as requested by the Lead Clinician and action any points raised at these meetings. This will include requesting the transfer of images to and from other hospitals via the PACS system.
  • Provide a comprehensive secretarial service to consultants and team within the Respiratory Department, including typing of clinical letters, maintaining personal diaries, dealing with enquiries and arranging appointments.
  • Type and complete all correspondence (letters and reports) from M-Modal for the respiratory consultants, registrars, junior doctors and other members of the respiratory team, ensuring all completed documentation is saved into E-Care. Ensure appropriate follow up actions are taken, appointments made, investigations requested, etc.
