The Post

As an Accountancy Assistant, reporting to the Assistant Research Accountant, you will support the post award research administration team with a range of tasks and responsibilities associated with the financial management and monitoring of research projects.


Description of Duties

  • Management of day to day operations for post award administration which requires financial administration and monitoring of research projects. Responsible for interpretation and providing guidance on funder's terms and conditions and ensuring that the terms and conditions are adhered to. This includes complex multi partner awards, in particular those funded by the European Commission
  • Preparation, monitoring and upload of budgets, monitoring of income and expenditure on research awards and identifying variances
  • Preparation and submission of claimsand forecasts to funders
  • Provision of guidance and advice to an agreed range of academic areas and staff onthe financial administration of research awards within the framework of the University's procedures and the terms and conditions set by funders
  • Acting as primary contact for funders on financial queries and requests for information
  • Responsible for review and compilation of financial data for University/funder contracts
  • Extensive use of funder's electronic systems for submission of claimsand forecasts
  • Use of various University of Stirling systems, including Agresso, Worktribeand SAP
  • Input and maintenance of computer records and files of research projects, assuring that appropriate documentary evidence for audit and other purposes is maintained

  • Welldeveloped communication skills and the ability to interact with University staff and members of external organisations at all levels
  • Able to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to customer service

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of using Agresso and SAP HR systems
  • In depth knowledge of funders guidelines and terms and conditions of award
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment
  • Experience in working within Higher Education
