Our Crop Nutrients business will extract a unique fertiliser that will help the world grow more food in a more sustainable way. POLY4 is our flagship multi-nutrient fertiliser product. Job Description

Join us as a Section Manager in Purchasing where you will provide an efficient and compliant purchasing service to the Crop Nutrients Business Unit (BU) organisation and develop, execute the key work processes that enable procurement activities associated with procurement of goods, services, and logistics.

Your Key Duties will include:

Safety & Health

  • Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Collect and summarise the specific risks within working area and implement plans/system to avoid these risks.
  • Manage Safety & Health systems within work area.

Delivery & Performance

General

  • Provide input into the Purchasing strategy and provide insights on performance targets and improvement priorities.
  • Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities.

Supply Chain Strategy, Critical Tasks, Targets

  • Understand BU strategic priorities and develop relevant purchasing strategies to support business needs.
  • Track and monitor regional purchasing performance levels to drive the strategic sustainability of the end-to-end (from receipt of purchasing requests until close-out of purchase orders) purchasing function.
  • Identify improvements and provide input to help establish the Purchasing improvement plan and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Purchasing improvement initiatives.
  • Implement value creation and supplier engagement strategies that align to the overall global Supply Chain strategy, critical tasks, performance targets and Business Unit priorities.

Purchasing Excellence & Automation

  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders like Information Management, Operations and other service providers to deliver best-in-class Purchasing solutions.
  • Provide specialist support to drive effective change through the organisation that will promote the use and adoption of processes and system solutions.
  • Collaborate with operational excellence teams across sites to identify and monitor issues, support definition of improvement plans and engage continuous improvement teams for support.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analytics to measure and improve the current Purchasing performance status.
  • Support the feedback loop for Business Unit and asset Operating Model processes, providing analysed and coordinated data.
  • Conduct broad scanning activities to keep up to date with innovative approaches and opportunities.
  • Ensure data analysis and benchmarking promotes and supports continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and resolve issues where required.
  • Support the team to resolve and reschedule deliveries with due dates that do not meet operational requirements.
  • Review supplier feedback and determine synergies of activities.
  • Review delivery performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Sustainability & Social

  • Drive the Anglo American sustainable value creation strategies, initiatives and associated business cases, that advance Anglo American technical, community, sustainability, and financial ambitions.
  • Ensure sourcing rules applied within Purchasing are aligned with Anglo American Sustainability and Social requirements.

Communities & Inclusive Procurement

  • Understand local supplier specific needs and identify value creation opportunities to address these.
  • Identify spend that could be directed to host/local suppliers.
  • Drive a culture of community development and inclusive procurement with stakeholders that are aligned to the global and regional Inclusive Procurement strategies.

People & Teams

  • Develop and mentor team to ensure that agreed service levels are maintained, and service excellence is met.
  • Embrace a Supply Chain team culture of diversity and inclusiveness.
  • Support cross functional team interactions with internal stakeholders to execute purchasing activities.
  • Ensure relevant key performance areas are understood, agreed to and embedded as part of the Team+ culture.
  • Build team capabilities that will enable resilient and agile competencies with the aim to future proof Purchasing efficiency.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure personal and team compliance to internal Anglo American and Supply Chain Governance requirements pertaining to all Physical Supply Chain Management activities.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance to applicable legislative requirements pertaining to all Physical Supply Chain Management activities in set portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate level of education in relevant field.
  • 5 years+ procurement and contracting experience in a project / manufacturing / operations organisation.
  • Experience working with SAP systems to control and document tendering processes for purchase orders for goods and contracts for services.
  • Experience in understanding operational/customer needs and ensuring contracts contain the required details.
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of product development processes.
  • Detailed project tracking and track record of meeting deliverables.
  • Experience interfacing with owner's team, suppliers and contractors.
  • Experience with the formation of purchase orders and contracts; management of the tendering process.
