The Role:


At Iceland we have an incredibly rich data environment giving us the ability to mine, model and analyse everything from what people are buying to when and how they shop.

The role of the Senior Customer Data Analyst is to take this data and turn it into actionableinsight across the eCommerce team and help drive forward the Online trading strategy.

Working as a senior member of a team of analysts across the Customer Insight Team _(part of the wider Planning and Analytics team),_ the senior analysts remit will cover 5 main areas within the Ecommerce department:

Segmentation:


Develop and refine how we segment and group our customers using multiple data sources and historical shopping behaviour and use this segmentation to articulate business performance.


Behavioural Modelling:


Use both online and instore data environments to develop and enrich behavioural models to articulate customer shopping habits, predict changes in these habits and understand shifting behaviour within our customer segments.


CRM Support:


Work closely with our CRM team to provide bespoke campaign data, develop new customer targeting and monitor the performance of campaigns through engagement and incremental sales.


Customer Forecasting:


Produce and refine the methodology for forecasting customer specific promotional activity both for our Online team but also for specific in-store activities.


Customer Insight:


Produce both regular and ad hoc insights based on customer trends and develop action plans for the wider team based on these insights.


The customer is at the heart of everything we do at Iceland so, alongside the main areas supported by the Customer Insight Team;
the Senior Customer Data Analyst will be involved in all aspects of the Ecomm team from feeding into forecasting routines, developing and enhancing new data sources, to working with the trading teams to develop current and future sales strategy.


Key Skills and Experience:


Most of our data sits within
SQL Server/Azure Data warehouses, so a good working knowledge of SQL is essential in this role alongside some experience in data modelling using SQL.


Although not directly managing a team, the role will involve mentoring and developing the more junior members of the Analytics Team as well as taking the lead within specific projects or tasks.


Other skills and competencies:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products including a proven track record in using
    Excel (or similar) to manipulate/interrogate data and present findings in an understandable and engaging way
:

  • Create engaging presentations based on findings and articulate technical details to a nontechnical audience.
  • The ability to gather, interpret and combine data from a multitude of sources and formats
  • The ability to deliver accurate, relevant, and timely information, based on solid research
  • An awareness of the benefits data modelling.
  • Some knowledge of forecasting methodologies and best practice.

A background within eCommerce or retail would be an advantage but not required.
