The job itself:


The Governing Body is seeking an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Cook to join our busy kitchen team at Willerby Carr Lane Primary School.


You will be responsible for the smooth operation of the kitchen, delivering an effective catering service, operating to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene and ensuring all relevant procedures and policies are followed accurately.

Your role will be to ensure that approx.

200 meals are prepared and cooked each school day, serve meals to pupils and staff as well as other kitchen management duties, such as supervision and training of 3 Kitchen Assistants, best value procurement and ordering of food, stocktaking and administration.


You will have:

  • Substantial experience of working in a catering kitchen
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
  • A flexibility and a willingness to embrace new ideas
  • An ability to use own initiative
  • An ability to supervise and also be a part of a positive and happy team
  • An ability to build very good relationships with staff, children and parents
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to develop your own skills and knowledge, plus those around you
  • An ability to take on board feedback and changes to menu items or ingredients
  • An ability to contribute to a positive lunchtime experience
