The Team Leader will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of a team of engineers delivering product scope or services to the department. They possess solid working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within their particular field and can provide subject matter expertise and guidance to team members within the aforementioned field. They will be actively engaged in all aspects of content management and delivery lifecycle. The Team Leader will also be required to manage the competing demands on team resources while removing any obstacles / blockers to team progress. They will be responsible for the creation and maintaining a schedule for the team's scope, deliverables, and promotion of content both internal and external of the wider engineering team. The Team Leader will participate in all aspects of our research and development activities. Working with the product owners and user experience teams they will be involved in the design, development, and the implementation of innovative web-based applications using technologies such as REST, Spring, React and Docker.

The Team Leader will work with their team and alongside other teams to develop new product features, progressively improve product quality and to resolve customer issues, while working in a robust continuous integration and continuous deployment environment.

Core Tasks

Develop key skills and knowledge of Verint applications. Deliver robust solutions by identifying related components and check for completeness of solutions, drawing on the wider team knowledge where required. Promote the new functionality to team and wider audience. Resolve complex and new problems by processing alternatives and balancing pros and cons. Ensure quality of the feature being delivered, through code reviews, TDD, BDD and other test activities, ensuring the functionality is tested and working properly before final release. Participate in customer calls to discuss, diagnose and resolve live issues, working together with support and engineering teams to provide efficient resolution to customer issues. Breaks tasks into smaller ones and sets milestones, identifies and plans for dependencies. Works to agreed timescales, prioritizing work effectively. Systematize routine work to ensure time can be spent on critical activities. Act as a subject matter expert in specific areas of responsibility Be an evangelist for departmental and team initiatives. Develop an understanding of how the department is run and take ownership of existing processes in the absence of TL/TA.

Management and Leadership

Run daily standup and scrum meetings Perform Line Management Duties Perform Appraisals Play a key role in scrum planning Communicate relevant risks and issues to Director Level and other relevant team members inside and/or outside the team Provide technical leadership to less experienced members of the team – mentor, coach, continuous improvement, led by example Take responsibility for technical implementation and decision making including the delivery of features Identify, monitor and resolve feature related issues; escalate if individual resolution is not possible

Documentation/ Governance

Work with Technical Architect and Team Lead to define, document, and communicate a coherent feature design Create documentation and guides for junior members of the team Review updates to documentation made by junior members of the team

Stakeholders

Work with Product Management to understand requirements, and what benefits they give to the product Gain respect within technical community Ensure stakeholders understand feature design (at the necessary level of detail) Maintain communication with stakeholders and ensure changes to any previously agreed solutions are communicated; loosely understand evolutionary paths Work with assigned partners to ensure an effective and productive relationship, both within the product house and the wider regional Verint organization.

Knowledge and Expertise

Be recognized as a solid technical resource within the team. Be seen as a person who when faced with complex technical challenges can work as part of a team to resolution Support and provide input to development tools, environment and 3rd party software selection Develop an in depth understanding of the target market and technology used Help provide information to resolve disputes and make tradeoffs Assist with pre-sales where technical expertise is required.

Planning

Prioritize and resolve technical problems Understand how the team's work fits within the product roadmap Ensure the prioritization of scope (including defects) is understood Understand the development process and suggest improvements to it Identify areas of technical risk in a feature and options to de-risk Support opportunities to address technical debt as part of a release Support the design process and ensure it complies with product architecture Support planning as regards estimates, dependencies, risk areas, and sequencing tasks.

Industry Specific

A degree or post graduate qualification in Computer Science or Software Engineering at 2:1 or above Commercial experience working within software engineering Experience of working with complex systems including but not limited to Java, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3 Experience of working with Cloud Infrastructure Experience of working in a CI/CD development environment

Environment

Able to work effectively within a fast-paced, changing, revenue focused environment

Product / Technical

Understanding of contact center software and applications Experience of working with cloud development with either Azure or AWS. Development experience with Java Knowledge of API development, particularly REST, and tools such as Postman Experience of JavaScript frameworks such as React Experience with leveraging JavaScript libraries as well as using package managers like NPM Good understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 Experience of working with Java Spring frameworks Advanced knowledge and experience of working with various debugging tools within Java, web dev tools and SQL environments. Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment Experience with Agile development methodologies Knowledge of behavior driven development practices using technologies such as Cucumber Experience of software automation tools such as Selenium. Experience of working in both legacy and greenfield codebases. Experience of writing clean, readable and maintainable code. Knowledge of software performance testing and profiling tools Experience of version control systems . GitHub Advanced knowledge of an IDE ., Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA Experience of continuous integration systems . Jenkins, Harness Advanced knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle methodologies. Knowledge and understanding of RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server or Postgres Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility concerns
