Caraway House Care Home is looking to appoint a Cook.


Our purpose-built, 70-bedded care home, is nestled in the beautiful seaside town of Selsey, offering outstanding levels of Residential, Dementia, Nursing & Respite care.


As Cook, you will work alongside the Head Chef to deliver a high quality of food to our residents and ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.


Cook Contract
15.50 per hour.

Contracted to 40-hours per week.

Pension.

5.6 weeks annual leave _(Based on a full-time contract)_

Onsite parking.

Uniform provided.

DBS.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards)

Team player.

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Good communication skills.

Ability to work on own initiative.

Desired
Experience of food preparation for the relevant Service User group.

Experience working in a care environment would be advantageous but not a deal-breaker.

Main Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, as and when required.

Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks.

Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in handling and delivery of food.

Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.

Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer/fridge temperatures.

Ensure stock rotation.

Assist in the ordering of stocks and checking of deliveries.

Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.

Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately.
