This is the job Joining the AA as an Azure DevOps Engineer, you will play a key part our Road Application and Development Support team and will be responsible for developing, supporting, and improving the Road Azure platform by collaborating with all Road Ops IT teams tocontinually increase the appropriate use of our Azure platform whilst driving cost efficiency.


You will be a specialist in your area of technical expertise and comfortable providing guidance and modelling delivery excellence to other members of the team.

The role will encompass both problem solving, identifying, delivery and implementing solutions.

As a member of the team, you will also provide L3 BAU support to business-critical incidents and may occasionally be required to support out of core business hours.


What will I be doing?:

  • Review business requirements and transition through to technical deliverables, collaborating with architecture, security, and external partners including both onshore and offshore teams
  • Contribute to and review architectural designs
  • Develop and contribute to prototypes and PoCs
  • Facilitate workshops and design sessions whilst documenting detailed designs and estimations for the Azure platform
  • Facilitate release management activities, ensuring controlled and timely deployments within a continuous integration environment
  • Ensure that all changes are documented, reviewed, tested, and approved before release
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), provide guidance/direction on industry standards, regulations, and best practice

What do I need? Essential:

  • Proficient knowledge and experience of Azure Technologies including PaaS, IaaS
  • Similar working background working on medium/large scale development programmes/projects with a variety of complex software/systems and databases
  • An in depth understanding of the full Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of CI/CD pipelining skills using Jenkins/Azure DevOps
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory implementation and migration of related services i.e., DHCP, DNS etc. as well as ARM Templates

Desirable:

  • Experience using either Terraform, Azure Tagging & Security Policies, AWS, Oracle / SQL Database technology, Unix/Linux
