We are seeking an HR Operations Lead to manage all HR operational matters, including HR Advisory and HR workforce systems, across the NSHBSA.

This role is pivotal in providing an excellent pro-active service to all colleagues and managers across the business on a range of people matters, enabling the business to achieve its strategy through its people.


As the HR Operations Lead, you will take full accountability for employee relations, policies and procedures, employment legislation, and HR workforce systems.

As the HR Operations Lead, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and creating a strategic approach to employee relation matters within the NHSBSA.
  • Providing an excellent and proactive HR advisory service to all areas of the business.
  • Leading, managing and motivating the HR Advisory team.
  • Managing our Home Office sponsorship licence.
  • Optimising the use of our current HR system (Electronic Staff Record) across the NHSBSA.
  • Owning all employment hosting arrangements that the NHSBSA have in place.
  • Managing all litigation claims that are received into the People Team.
  • Owning the HR Relationship with the NHSBSA HR Shared Services team.
  • Leading on all complex employment legislation changes.

In this role, you are accountable for:

  • Defining and creating a strategic approach to employee relation matters within the NHSBSA that minimises litigation risk and provides a clear direction. You will need to ensure the business has the skills, experience and knowledge to effectively manage employee relations, in addition to the HR Advisory team and the HR Business Partnering team.
  • Providing an excellent and proactive HR advisory service to all areas of the business. This will be done through leading a team that successfully coach and support managers to be confident in HR practice by offering effective HR advice and ensuring employee relation issues are managed well. The service will be continually developed to meet the needs of the business, leaders, managers and colleagues, with efficiency, value add and benefit realisation being key.
  • Leading, managing and motivating the HR Advisory team, ensuring their objectives align to strategy delivery, work is allocated and prioritised and an effective service is delivered to achieve team performance KPIs. This includes continually developing the HR Advisory team's professional knowledge and skills, ensuring they keep up to date with best practice HR and employment legislation, and actively own their personal professional development.
  • The management of our Home Office sponsorship licence to enable us to employ colleagues from outside the UK. Ensuring that all relevant internal policies and processes reflect the appropriate Government guidance and we have effective systems and training in place to manage this on a day to day basis, reducing all risk of penalties to the business by the Government and a positiv
