Factory Operative

We are looking to hire a Factory Operative to work in our Packing department and also learn to manufacturer our world renowned Twist.


This role would suit an applicant who is practical, has excellent hand to eye coordination, has patience and attention to detail.


PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A JOB THAT MOSTLY INVOLVES SITTING DOWN AND DELICATE HAND TO EYE CO-ORDINATION, WORKING IN A SMALL TEAM IN PAIRS.

IT IS NOT GENERAL FACTORY PRODUCTION ON THE MAIN FACTORY FLOOR.


Once proficient at this and as production and time allows and to fit in with other staffing and business needs, you will be taught how to prepare the tobacco leaves for Twist production and how to spin the Twist.

This is a technique that has changed little over the last 200 years.


The applicant will need to demonstrate a strong work ethic, self-motivation, adaptability, diligence, attention to detail and values working as part of a team, yet capable of taking responsibility and accountability.


Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Packing/labelling/sealing & manual handling of products.
  • Assisting with other departments as required, notably learning to make our famous Twist tobacco and helping in our Track & Trace department.
  • Ensuring that the production area you are working within is kept tidy.
  • In process quality checks as required.
  • Assist with the implementation of new systems & processes as required
You may also be required to undertake other tasks in addition to those listed above.

Requirements:

  • Excellent hand coordination
  • An attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Physical fitness for constant manual work and occasional lifting.
  • Excellent time keeping and a drive to achieve targets.
  • Autonomous working
  • Good communication and team working skills


We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our packing team as our company expands and moves forward and willing to learn our specialised production technique and become an integral part of the production & packing department.


Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 7.30am to 4.30pm with half hour lunch break

Friday: 7.30am to 1.30pm

Salary:
£24,000 rising to £25,200 after probation period

Successful applicants will be invited to an initial interview and then short listed applicants will be invited to come for a couple of hours to the factory to have a go at the packing process and twist production.
