Job Role: Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Ipswich Hospital

The Paediatrics department at Ipswich Hospital is looking for a Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) to join their dynamic team. This role involves a blend of medical and advanced nursing duties.

We welcome applicants with experience in various child health sectors, such as general paediatrics, neonatal nursing, or paediatric emergency care.

The trainee ANNP will undergo a period of Masters level academic study, along with gaining hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of experienced ANNPs or senior medical professionals.

  • **Band Progression:** You will start as a Band 6 in the first year, move to Band 7 in the second year, and upon course completion, advance to Band 8a.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced clinical care to neonates and families, making autonomous decisions on patient care.
  • Act as an educator, auditor, and researcher while advising and educating junior staff.
  • Offer specialized advice and support to the multidisciplinary team in neonatal care.
  • Participate in developing and updating Neonatal guidelines.
  • Maintain advanced newborn life support resuscitation skills and lead neonatal resuscitation efforts.
  • Collaborate with junior medical staff to ensure optimal specialist care for neonates.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Registered Nurse / RN / RN child / RM
  • First degree
  • Working towards a Masters degree
  • Completion of a Recognized Neonatal Specialist course
  • Completion of an Enhanced Neonatal Practitioner course
  • Mentorship or teaching equivalent
  • NLS Certification

Desirable

  • Independent and Supplementary Prescribing course or willingness to undertake

Experience:

Essential

  • Extensive experience in senior neonatal nursing, including intensive care
  • Active involvement in service enhancement and implementing patient-centered changes
  • Demonstrable management skills
  • Worked within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team
  • Mentored and supervised other professionals
  • Experience in change management, teaching, and assessment in a clinical environment
  • Conducted performance appraisals

Desirable

  • Experience in budget management
