Job Summary

A vacancy has opened up for the position of Sterile Services Coordinator across the Trust. This role offers full flexibility, including potential weekend shifts.

Core shifts are typically from 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend coverage.

The Sterile Services Coordinator will oversee instrument activity coordination between theatres and decontamination teams.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Make decisions on reusable instrument suitability in collaboration with surgical teams and decontamination personnel.
  • Determine appropriate instrument-set structures with input from clinical specialists and decontamination teams to prevent instruments from moving between sets.
  • Establish a robust process to monitor supplementary instruments.
  • Ensure proper tracking and traceability practices are applied to all instruments, including loan sets, collaborating with patient records personnel for identification purposes.
  • Replace missing or damaged surgical instruments while maintaining set integrity.
  • Supervise the condition and suitability of surgical instruments.
  • Remove unused instruments from sets.
  • Collaborate with the budget holder to identify and update sets with missing or damaged items.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with sterile services and operations team for service report reviews and updates.
  • Investigate sterile services-related incidents in consultation with surgical teams.
  • Review daily production summaries and address necessary tasks resulting from the reports.
