About us
The ALC (All-weather Lifeboat Centre), which opened in 2015, is the RNLI's very own boat building facility in Poole which brings every stage of lifeboat construction, refit and maintenance in-house and under one roof.
We have a full schedule of Lifeboat production and refit, and an increase in the number of older Lifeboats coming through our factory for refit, maintenance, and repaint.
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead our Preparation and Paint cell.

Your role
This role will primarily be focused on leading the cell responsible for the surface preparation, paint/coating application and substrate/coating inspection of components and assemblies within the boatbuilding process and repair of all classes of Lifeboat. The successful candidate may be required to move to different areas of the build process depending on operational requirements.
About you
It is essential that you have specialist knowledge in surface preparation and application of paint/coatings within a marine environment, as well as experience of leading a team, and knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation.
You must have either of the following qualifications:
City and Guilds NVQ level 3 / BTEC qualifications Time served apprenticeship, or extensive proven experience in the boat building industry.Key features of our ALC Paint facility are;
Three Junair paint booths, with capacity for boats up to 17m in length Component Blast booth (Hodge Clemco) Wagner Cobra air assisted airless paint sprayers Dedicated paint store and separate paint mix room Application of Epoxy and Polyurethane paint systemsThe ALC offers a clean, organised and safe work environment, with all tools and equipment provided. Please note that the RNLI operates a clean shave policy where close fitting RPE is required to be worn during work processes.
