We are actively in pursuit of an accomplished Lead Casting Engineer, poised to play a pivotal role in advancing our Battery Management realm.


This individual will be responsible for the delivery of the Battery Mechanical Castings, to meet quality, cost, weight, timing and functional targets.


Your mission? You will work with the Battery Mechanical Systems team within the Battery design and release teams as part of the overall Powertrain electrified engineering group.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

To own the Design and Release of multiple casting parts across various battery programmesnEnsure robust timing plans are in place that achieve Program milestones and targets (Quality, Cost, Functionality, Weight, and timing)nDevelop a Statement of Requirements to support supplier sourcing and work with the matched pair through the GSP processnDevelop and release updates to Engineering SpecificationsnEnsure DFMEA, Design Rules, RMDV, and Statement of Work process/documents are diligently and transparently implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gatewaysnLead issue resolution (AIMS) and Change Management (WERS), processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly and support programme objectivesnFully utilize the ETAG, (End of test Battery Strip process) from completed functional, rig and vehicle tests, along with Warranty feedback to ensure proactive identification and resolution of component issuesnDrive the resolution of cross-functional technical / manufacturing issues using a Global 8D processnLead suppliers through the design phase, procurement of prototypes, and production tooling and ensure components perform to requirements

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential –

A knowledge of typical BEV and PHEV battery system solutions and technologiesnExperience in complex mechanical packaging and structural solutionsnExperience with typical manufacturing solutions such as extrusions, castings, pressings and implications of manufacturing process on mechanical designnExperience in defining and/or using appropriate analysis tools to optimise and verify mechanical and structural properties such that you can define the required analysisnUnderstanding of typical battery characteristics - cell types, electrical configuration, cell mounting limitations, cooling and heating requirements, ventingnA working knowledge of the design and release processnExperience of design FMEA's
