Job Purpose


The primary role of the Surveyor is to carry out site-based surveys of overhead line networks, with view of refurbishment and replacement of assets based on the specified driver of works.

Creation of survey pack including annotated maps and detailed patrol sheets of existing network. Role includes liaising with landowners and customers to gain access and agreement of forthcoming planned schemes.


The primary role of the Auditor exists to undertake site-based audits on completed overhead line work by UK Power Networks staff and Contractors.

Ensuring that UK Power Networks policy, processes and build specifications are adhered to. The audit includes verifying data accuracy and completing of red line diagrams and Asset forms.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Have an in-depth knowledge of overhead line construction techniques and operation of the overhead line network. Specifically the ESQC Regulations, Electricity at Work Act and Health & Safety at Work Act.

UK Power Networks competency certificate.

Familiar with UKPN IT devices and systems, specifically Network Records and ART processes.

To be able to work on own initiative

Able to complete self-risk assessments

Ability to work on own and as part of a team.


To be prepared to train and learn new skills to be able to carry out the full range of duties.


To be experienced and have in depth knowledge in the field of low voltage, 11KV and 33KV overhead line construction and maintenance.

Ability to build good working relationships within their own team as well as developing wider working contacts.

The ability to communicate effectively, with a wide range of individuals, in a clear and concise manner.

Liaise with other delivery functions to ensure the smooth running of Distribution Capital Delivery works.
