An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Worker to be part of a developing service. The post holder will work within the Specialist Health & Wellbeing Service for Care experienced Children & Young People in Dumfries & Galloway for a period of 12mths. Applications are welcome from practitioners with previous experience working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health or with care experienced children and young people. This may be as a fixed term post or secondment opportunity.

The post holder must be a qualified practitioner, currently registered with a professional regulatory body e.g. NMC
The post holder will be part of a multi disciplinary team that will look to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for care experienced young people.

This will include not only direct client work to monitor and assess the mental health needs of this population, but also to assist in consultation and training to partner agencies, and to the development of this service. This post will also contribute to the development of therapeutic groups.

In addition to your skills and knowledge, you should be able to evidence a real passion to make a difference to care experienced young people and young peoples mental health, and enthusiasm to contribute to and support the ongoing development of the team and service.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
