Our client is a market leading building products distributor to builders merchants and specialist contractors across the UK. The business has a demonstrable track record of double-digit growth in its core residential sectors with significant opportunities in commercial/industrial sectors and further geographical expansion in the UK.

Following investment by an ambitious private investment company, the business seeks to recruit an outstanding, entrepreneurial CEO to realise the company's full potential and to expand the customer and product base and grow it from its current annual revenue of approximately £25 million to £50 million over 4-5 years.

This position will require an individual with exceptional people skills and a demonstrable track record of growing businesses for which they have held P&L accountability. The successful candidate will be ambitious, competitive, numerate, emotionally intelligent and someone who yearns to "run their own show" - with concomitant incentives.

We are looking for an established business leader with a strong track record of financial success in a sub £200m t/o (£5m+ ebitda) distribution or industrial business either in a standalone company or divisional corporate entity with considerable autonomy and limited central corporate support. There is a preference for someone who has been through a PE investment lifecycle and we would consider candidates from other sectors if they have had a successful PE exit.

The MD will enjoy the support and encouragement of the former owner as a Non-Executive Director and a PE experienced Chairman. The successful candidate would ideally have a relevant and recent background in the building materials or construction sectors.
